UV-928 is a high-performance benzotriazole UV absorber, optimized for high-temperature processing and long-term outdoor weathering applications. Its core advantages and characteristics are listed below:
Superior Thermal Stability
Features exceptional heat resistance with an initial decomposition temperature of >300°C, 5% weight loss temperature (TGA) of 330°C and 10% weight loss temperature of 350°C. It remains chemically stable during high-temperature processing (up to 280°C) of polymers and coatings, without volatilization, degradation or discoloration. The melting point ranges from 108°C to 113°C, enabling uniform dispersion in substrate matrices.
Broad-spectrum & High-efficiency UV Absorption
Delivers strong absorption across both UV-B (280–320 nm) and UV-A (320–400 nm) regions with high molar extinction coefficient. It effectively blocks harmful UV radiation, preventing photodegradation, yellowing and loss of mechanical properties in materials, thus ensuring long-term outdoor durability.
Low Migration & Low Volatility
The unique molecular structure with bulky alkyl and aryl groups minimizes migration and volatility. It does not bloom on the surface of finished products, maintaining consistent UV protection performance and aesthetic appearance throughout the service life.
Excellent Compatibility & Processability
Shows good compatibility with a wide range of engineering polymers (e.g., PC, PA, PBT, PET, PMMA), powder coatings, coil coatings and solvent-based coatings. It adapts to various processing techniques including extrusion, injection molding and curing, with no adverse impact on substrate processability.
Low Color Impact & High Transparency
Appears as an off-white crystalline powder with negligible absorption in the visible light spectrum. It does not affect the clarity and color of transparent or light-colored formulations, making it ideal for optical films, clear coatings and light-hued plastic products.
Strong Synergistic Effect with HALS
When combined with hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), it forms a synergistic system that significantly enhances the long-term weathering resistance of materials. This combination is particularly effective for outdoor applications such as automotive exterior parts, architectural coatings and agricultural films.
