It serves as a component of accelerators for cyanoacrylate glues. Furthermore, it acts as a bidentate Schiff base ligand through condensation with salicylaldehyde. It reacts with catecholamine to form a dye which is useful for spectrophotometric determination of catecholamine drugs.
