N-Ethylaniline is colorless liquid. Production Methods:
1. Hydrochloric Acid Method: Aniline hydrochloride and ethanol are reacted at 180℃ and 2.94 MPa. Excess ethanol and the byproduct diethyl ether are distilled off. Then, 30% NaOH and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride are added. The byproduct diethylaniline is removed by steam distillation. Finally, sulfuric acid is added to obtain the product. 2. Phosphorus Trichloride Method: Aniline, ethanol, and phosphorus trichloride are reacted at 300℃ and 9.84 MPa. The reaction mixture is fractionated by vacuum distillation to obtain N-ethylaniline.
