1. What is diethylenetriamine?
Diethylenetriamine, with the chemical formula C4H13N3, is a light yellow or colorless transparent oily liquid with a strong smell of ammonia. Its melting point is about -40ºC, boiling point is about 206ºC, and density is 0.96 g/cm³. This compound is well miscible with solvents such as water, ethanol, and acetone, but is difficult to dissolve in n-heptane and ether solvents.

The stability and reactivity of diethylenetriamine are the basis for its wide application. It is relatively stable at room temperature, but it absorbs carbon dioxide and moisture in the air. In addition, it also has the following important physical and chemical properties:
