Chemical Properties N, N-dimethylaniline is a light yellow to light brown oily liquid. It has a pungent odor. It is soluble in ethanol, chloroform, ether and aromatic organic solvents, and slightly soluble in water. Uses For the manufacture of spices, pesticides, dyes, explosives and other purposes This product is an important dye intermediate. It can be used to prepare alkaline light yellow, alkaline purple 5BN, alkaline green, alkaline lake blue BB, alkaline brilliant blue R, cationic red 2BL, brilliant red 5GN, purple 3BL, brilliant blue, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, the product can be used in the manufacture of cephalosporin V, sulfamethoxine, sulfamethoxine, fluorocytosine, etc. It is used in the fragrance industry to produce vanillin. It can also be used as a solvent, rubber vulcanization accelerator, explosive and some organic intermediates. One of the basic raw materials for the production of basic dyes (triphenylmethane dyes, etc.) and alkaline dyes, the main varieties are alkaline light yellow, alkaline purple, alkaline green, alkaline lake blue, brilliant red 5GN, brilliant Chemicalbook blue and so on. N, n-dimethylaniline is used in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of cephalosporin V, sulfa-B-methymine, sulfadimethoxil, fluoropyrimine, etc., and in the fragrance industry for the manufacture of vanillin. N, N-dimethylaniline can be used as a dye intermediate, mainly used in the manufacture of azo dyes, triphenylmethane dyes, but also to make spices, medicine, explosives and other intermediates. N, N-dimethylaniline can be used as an analytical reagent for the determination of methanol, methylfurfuraldehyde, hydrogen peroxide, nitrate, ethanol, formaldehyde and tertiary amine, and colorimetric determination of nitrite. It can be used to make vanillin, methyl violet, michler ketone and other dyes. It is also used in new processes of symmetric and asymmetric photoconductors. The production method is the reaction of aniline and methanol under high temperature and high pressure in the presence of sulfuric acid. Raw material consumption quota: aniline 790kg/t, methanol 625kg/t, sulfuric acid 85kg/t. Aniline can be prepared in the laboratory to react with trimethyl phosphate.
